Have you ever spent money on a course to motivate you? It’s funny how as we grow, and become disillusioned with the world, and ourselves, we go searching for things to make our lives seem just a little bit more significant. Or we’ll go searching for some new pearl of wisdom to shine some light on what may seem to be a dim situation.

And at the end of the day, we end up finding answers right under our noses. Then upon reflection we realise that this little pearl has been there all along but in our struggle to find answers we never stopped to take notice.

My little pearl today came in the form of an 8 year old girl. My daughter.

You see she’s been a little bit ill lately, in fact she’s been in quite a bit of pain. For the last week I’ve spent many hours just helping her get through each night. It seems that her pain is at its worst during the night. Neither of us have had much sleep at all.

But she’s a fairly conscientious little thing. She loves learning, and so she loves school. She hasn’t been able to go all week because of her illness. And while she’s been at home, during the day time at least, whenever she has the energy and she’s not in pain, she sits down to work on a school project that isn’t due for another week and a half.

So I said to her today, “honey, why don’t you take a break and just relax, get some rest, and try to catch up on the sleep that you’ve been missing out on? You can do your project later and I’m sure your teacher will understand if you hand it in late.”

Her answer almost bowled me over. I didn’t know if I should laugh, cry, praise her, or what to do but let me tell you I felt as proud as a parent could feel.

What she said was “Dad, it’s gotta get done so I might as well do it, I mean it’s not going to get done on its own now is it“.

Now I’d love to take credit for that. I mean lets face it, it’s very possible that she learned that from me, from the things I talk about with her. Maybe she’s just watched the way I do things and picked it up there. Maybe, maybe, maybe. These were some of the thoughts that immediately went through my head ie: I must be doing something right. Right?

Wrong!!!

Well OK it’s probably fair to say that the influence she gets from me probably helps but the bottom line is you can’t teach that kind of attitude. That comes from within you. Either you get it or you don’t.

Clearly she gets it, and she made a point of letting me know that today.

What makes this so important and worth writing about is the lesson in the message, and the message is for everyone.

The message is simple.

Do what you have to do to get the job done. Don’t make excuses, don’t put it off till later, take advantage of the time you have today because tomorrow you might find that your time has run out. No matter how bad you think things are, just get on with it. You’ll have time to rest once the job is done.

I’m a happy man today because I know that this is one kid that I don’t have to worry about her future. She has all the markings of a future achiever and a future leader, and I can’t wait to see what she has in store.

Thanks Ally, you made my day sweet heart.

For me getting the right start each day is so important.

Have you ever noticed that when you wake up badly, and you can’t let it go, that the rest of the day just seems to get worse and worse. Things just don’t fit together as you had planned. People just don’t seem to relate to you as they normally would. You don’t seem to be able to add that spark to your project like you normally do. Finally the day ends and you flop on the sofa and drown yourself in any activity (usually TV) so you can take your mind off it and wait until the next morning.

We all have days like that. But a lucky few know that there are simple ways to break out of the funk before your bad start turns into a bad day.

I am a huge advocate of personal development and self improvement. That’s exactly why half of this blog is dedicated to the topic. So I know first hand how difficult it can be sometimes to stay positive, to stay on top of your game, when your having one of those days. I have a very structured routine that begins the moment I wake up, continues throughout the morning then eases but is still kept constant throughout the day.

My day begins in the bathroom. On my mirror I have a small note with 2 unfinished sentences that I go through several times. The first sentence says ‘I am grateful for …..’. You know when you start your day with gratitude the rest of the day just flows. You go out into the world with a sense of purpose. So even if you did wake up, stub your toe, slop toothpaste all over your best outfit then forget your files on your way out the door, when you spend time to recognize all of the things that you have to be grateful for, these little things seem very insignificant. Don’t sweat the little things’.

The second sentence is ‘Today I want to thank….for….’. At this point I think about all that things that are happening in my life right now and select the most significant contribution that anyone might have made to me. Tne I literally take time to make contact with them and thank them. To show your appreciation to someone for something they have done for you costs you absolutely nothing but the return is exponential.

Even after having begun my day, I sometimes still find myself in a slump for one reason or another. I’m sure you’ve experienced this as well. You try your best to stay focused and positive but something just keeps niggling away at you subconsciously. That’s when I go right to my computer and look for my ‘Insight of the day‘.

I am a big Bob Proctor fan. I have been following Bob’s work for many years now. I’d be amazed if you had not heard of Bob Proctor but for those who are not familiar, Bob is to the personal development industry what Eisntein was to modern science. Bob has spent the past 40 years studying and understanding what it is that makes us all tick and most importantly how we can all become successful if we just make the decision to do so.

Well over all those years there has been an opportunity to collect a very large number of inspirational and motivational quotes. That’s what we call ‘Insight of the day‘. Each day a new inspirational message is sent directly to your in box to give you the start that you need to make everyday a successful one.

Its a completely free service so you have nothing to lose, just fill in the form and every day you will have something to get you started out the way you intended.

Sam Crowley thought he was following the “American Dream.”

An ex-stuttering college dropout, Sam worked his way up to a corner office at a Fortune 100 company. With a six-figure salary and all the perks, he was supposed to be content… but he was secretly MISERABLE.

Sam arrived home late every night, giving his best at work while his family got leftovers. Like so many people in the corporate world, his American Dream had turned into a nightmare!

One night, Sam’s daughter Madeline uttered 4 innocent words that stopped him in his tracks and changed the course of his family’s life forever…

Arriving home late (again), Sam went upstairs to find his 3 year-old daughter already in bed. She asked him, “Daddy, is tomorrow Saturday?” Saturday was the only day Sam had time to spend with his family- the only day he could be a real father.

** Every Day Is Saturday Is Born **

That night, Sam decided that someday soon, every day would be Saturday. He realized that his ultimate goal was to be a great father for his children.

Sam managed to quit his job and start his own business that allows hi the “Ultimate Saturday Lifestyle” as an international motivational speaker and business coach.

In short order, Sam was able to…

- Go from speaking for free to getting paid $25,000 per keynote address
- Quit his job and spend more time with his 3 young daughters
- Start a motivational podcast that is now downloaded by 30,000 loyal subscribers in over 100 countries around the world
- And much, much more all based on nothing but the power of his dream!

And it’s not just Sam who is making a massive transition- just look at what his students have accomplished:

- Dustin Salisbury, a 24 year-old senior airman in the US Air Force, used Sam’s message to conquer fear and adversity while deployed in Iraq

- Brian McElroy produced his first documentary film and helped raise over $100,000 for charity with Sam’s guidance

- Dino Herbert was motivated by Sam to take action and truly live the life he wanted as a speaker, trainer, and author

** Six Days To Saturday **

While Sam was going through his own transition, and then started helping others reach their Saturday, he documented each step of the process. He knew it would become an invaluable blueprint for anyone with a dream to make their own Saturday a reality.

The result is “Six Days To Saturday”, the first-ever audio series dedicated to helping you go from Monday to Saturday! In six digitally mastered audio CDs (and an accompanying workbook), Sam takes you through each step of the process:

Monday – Feel The Pain And Write Your Future

Tuesday – Preparing For Success

Wednesday – The Time For Action!

Thursday – Failure Is A Verb, Not A Noun

Friday – Commitment & Persistence

Saturday – You Are A Champion!

No matter what your Saturday may be, Sam’s message is POWERFUL.

If you want to spend more time with family, make a bigger contribution to others, and bring your life to a whole new level, then Sam’s message is for you.

You can learn more about “Six Days To Saturday” and request a free copy of Sam’s powerful report “Seize Your Saturday Power!”

Go there now and make EVERY day Saturday!

Andy Andrews, one of the most dynamic and influential motivational speakers and best selling author has a new project and a noble one it is indeed. The purpose of the project is a worldwide movement for everyone to acknowledge the 5 most influential people in their lives.

Andy is and continues to be a major influence in many peoples lives across the globe for many year now with feature appearances on most of the major networks in the US, and no doubt will continue to be for many years to come. Take the time today to notice someone in your life and keep the movement in motion. www.thenoticerproject.com

Read Andy’s bio:

Hailed by the New York Times as a “one of the most influential people in America,” Andy Andrews is an internationally known speaker and novelist whose combined works have sold millions of copies worldwide. An in-demand speaker for U.S. presidents, corporations, celebrities and American military bases around the globe, he is best known for his inspiring novel, The Traveler’s Gift: Seven Decisions that Determine PersonalSuccess (Thomas Nelson, 2002).

The manuscript for The Traveler’s Gift, originally passed over by 51 publishers before it was picked up by Thomas Nelson, quickly became an international bestseller with more than a million copies sold. It landed spots on The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, USA Today and Publishers Weekly bestseller lists, was an ABC “Good Morning America” book-of-the month selection and the subject of a two-hour PBS special. The story of one man’s search for meaning and success in life by traveling back in time and conversing with seven historic individuals, Andrews’ message of hope, faith and perseverance in The Traveler’s Gift has transformed thousands of lives worldwide. Today, the book is available in 20 languages and is required reading in many high school classrooms.

Andrews is still influenced by his humble beginnings, despite the worldwide notoriety he receives today. At 19, he lost both his parents to tragic circumstances: his mother died of cancer, and his father followed soon after due to an automobile accident. A few years later Andrews was homeless, sleeping occasionally under a pier on the gulf coast or in someone’s garage. However, he was able to pull himself through this tough time, as he began studying more than 200 biographies of history’s greatest successes and failures, including General George Patton, Harriet Beecher Stowe and Daniel Boone. This became the catalyst to his many successes.

It is this remarkable true story that inspired his new book, The Noticer (Thomas Nelson | April 28, 2009 | 978-0-7852-2921-1 | Hardcover |$17.99), which blends fiction, real-life experience and inspiration to teach readers that a grateful perspective brings happiness and abundance. Set in the author’s hometown, Orange Beach, Ala., a mysterious old man named “Jones” pops into the lives of residents in the midst of crisis – on the brink of divorce, on the verge of financial ruin, about to give up on life – to impart sage-like perspective on how to move past life’s biggest challenges.

In a time of uncertainty, rising unemployment and unstable economic conditions, Andrews hopes The Noticer will provide America with proof that there is a reason to have hope, and inspire readers everywhere to take the first step toward major life change. A back-of-the-book reader’s guide helps to facilitate a better understanding of what the character Jones calls “perspective.” Andrews lives in Orange Beach, Ala., with his wife, Polly and their two sons. He is also the author of The Lost Choice and Island of Saints. For more information, visit www.AndyAndrews.com.

Many people dream about having a home based business of their own. The idea of setting your own hours, and the freedom to chose who you want to work with. However the reality is few people take enough time to ensure they have the appropriate skills and tools to transition into home based business.

The first major that many inexperienced home based business operators are faced with is the lack of discipline and failure to schedule. They don’t plan their work day and this can creat two distinct problems. Overworking and under-working.

Let’s look at “under-working” first. It’s just too easy when starting your home based business to sit there surfing the internet. No doubt you intended to work on your website or set up your affiliate accounts, but before you realise it, you’ve wasted an entire day checking out the latest and gossip and reading email. Sure, you were on the internet and doing something, but what you were doing won’t put a single penny in your pocket.

Overworking though is quite easy to understand. Many people have difficulty maintaining business hours. When your working from home, there is a temptation to “work until you drop”. That’s a really bad idea, particularly if when you begin your online home based business you still work your day job. When all your time is spent working, you soon feel like you’re never going to get any “down time”. When you begin feeling that way you cab certain that burnout will soon follow. I know all too well about this and you can take my word for it.

So what’s the solution. ‘Discipline’! You need to plan your day. Make a list of exactly what you want to accomplish. You should have a daily operating procedure which should describe each task and how much time to spend working on each of them. Be certain to include some downtime ie: time for family/friends, relaxation, sport and recreation, whatever you enjoy. This is pivotal. After all, you started your home based business to create a better lifestyle, not to be the wealthiest person in a grave!

Your daily plans need to be specific. It’s no good to write say, “work on website.” That has no meaning an is just too vague. Your plan needs a definitive goal. For instance “write an article about website traffic for the home page of the website.” Can you see a difference? You could “work on” your website for years and not reach a point that you see any success. In contrast, when your plan is to “write an article about xyz,” you know you’re task is complete the instant you type that final sentence.

Sometimes, regardless of how good your plan is, you simply won’t finish everything you’ve scheduled. That happens to everyone in home based business or in a regular job. You simply need to revise your schedule for the following day and include the incomplete item(s). Don’t getcaught up on the idea that one or two items were not completed as planned. Just take it in your stride and keep moving forward. If you find yourself regularly missing your deadlines, you must re-evaluate your scheduling. Are your time allotments realistic? Probably not. So you should adjust accordingly.

Start your own home based business with tunnel vision. You will accomplish so much more and achieve success in far less time.

These are a few simple methods to assist you to maintain your sanity and get all your work completed. With proper planning and the right amount of effort, you’ll be able to balance your personal life and start your home based business to literally schedule your way to success.

How many times have you heard this before? Self talk should be in positive, affirming language. So when that information is delivered in various ways and by various successful people, there must be something to it so accept the mentoring and apply their strategies. But does it work you might ask? One thing I’ve learned is that if you keep hearing the same thing over and over you eventually believe it. It doesn’t matter if the message is positive or negative your subconscious is not able to differentiate and is happy to accept what ever you tell it. The key to all this though is that amazingly powerful thing ‘belief’.

In the words of Henry Ford, “If man believes he can do a thing or not, he is right“.

The most essential ingredient is having the correct mindset. The law of attraction dictates that ‘what you think about, and the emotion associated to that thought directly determines your outcomes. Ultimately you need to reprogram your subconscious in order to attain that positive mindset.

7 strategies to a positive mindset:

Write down your own affirmations. Read them aloud every morning and night.

Read positive books or listen to CD’s which inspire and conjure emotions that make you feel empowered and positively energized.

Surround yourself with positive people. You are who your friends are.

Have a media fast. Who really needs the evening news anyway.

Be grateful for all that you have and give thanks on a daily basis.

Clear the clutter around your home and office. A good measure of your mindset is to look at your desk. Is it tidy and organised or is it a jumbled mess?

Spend at least 10 minutes each day visualising what your new life looks and feels like.

So now you have it. It’s simple. Just apply these strategies and everything will turn out fine, right? Now that you know what to do, how do you fit it all into your schedule? As an entrepreneur you undoubtedly want control over your time as well as your income. Next thing you know you find that your swamped with a new set of disciplines to keep yourself on track and focused, and could end up feeling like you’re still not free from the repetition of the daily grind.

Streamline the list:

1. Listen to your self talk during your affirmations. You can listen while doing other things and even while listening to other information such as audio programs. Because it’s subliminal it gets through to your subconscious faster than you can on your own.

2. Get a personal mentor or coach for consistent positive support as well as entrepreneurial mentoring. This gives you accountability and also alternative avenues to getting unstuck when obstacles pop up.

3. There is no quicker way to feel the weight of the world as instantly as watching the evening news or the morning paper. Find other ways to obtain the necessary information you require each day. Once you try it, you’ll likely never go back. Take it to the next level by not watching any TV or other electronic entertainment. Read a book, write an article on your favorite topic. There are many ways to entertain yourself away from the TV. Not to mention all that extra time you will have for other things.

4. Give thanks each and every day for all that have in your life. From the air that you breath to good fortune that you have. No matter how big or small, express your gratitude.

5. Hire an organizer for keeping the clutter cleared periodically and a virtual assistant for your more repetitious tasks that don’t need your talent to produce effectively.

6. The most important factor to success is visualization. When you wake up in the morning and before bed at night, spend 10 minutes on your visualizations.

Follow this streamlined approach and you’ll only have two daily items to schedule – that is, listening to cd’s or reading books AND daily visualization. The rest gets handled seemingly behind the scenes and effortlessly on your part by your VA and through self talk.

If you follow the streamlined guide above you will soon begin to maintain focus, your productivity and energy will increasing dramatically and at the same time you’ll be decreasing the effort required to keep yourself in the mindset that provides those standards.
